The Blessing of Godly Relationships

Key Scriptures: Proverbs 27:17; Ephesians 2:6; Hebrews 10:24–25; Proverbs 13:20
Do you have people in your life who constantly remind you of prayer, the Scriptures, worship, purpose, excellence in business, or a deeper walk with God? If you do, cherish them and keep them close.
The Bible says, “As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another” (Proverbs 27:17). Even the sharpest blade can become dull over time and require another piece of iron to restore its edge. Likewise, there are moments in our lives when we need the influence, encouragement, wisdom, and correction of others to help us regain focus and remain aligned with God's purpose.
God places people in our lives for reasons. In fact, I can confidently say that some individuals, ministries, and even denominations serve as reminders of how our lives ought to be lived. Through them, God challenges us to grow, learn, and become better disciples of Christ.
I deeply appreciate those who contribute positively to my life. I value those whose words inspire me to pray more, study the Scriptures more diligently, and pursue a deeper understanding of God. I cherish those who awaken areas of spiritual growth that I may have neglected or overlooked.
Recently, while reading a book, I came across a profound statement: “When you are translated from the kingdom of darkness into the Kingdom of God, your seat becomes vacant there, and you are now seated with Christ in heavenly places, far above principalities and powers.” This truth beautifully reflects Ephesians 2:6 and reminds us of our position and identity in Christ.
Receiving such insight from what someone else has written is a blessing. It reminds us that good friends are not only those who stand beside us physically, but also those who, through their writings, teachings, conversations, and godly examples, help us understand God's truth more deeply. Anyone who stirs your hunger for God's Word, broadens your understanding of Scripture, and inspires you to pursue Christ more passionately is a valuable friend indeed. Such people deserve to be appreciated because they contribute to your spiritual growth and help sharpen your destiny.
We need one another as God continually rewires, reshapes, and reconfigures our lives into the image of Christ. Consider your mobile phone—it regularly requires system updates to remain effective, secure, and relevant. In the same way, believers need continual spiritual updates through God's Word, prayer, fellowship, and healthy relationships that encourage growth and maturity.
However, wisdom is necessary. If certain friendships consistently pull you toward negativity, compromise, discouragement, or spiritual decline, their influence should be carefully evaluated. The Bible says, “He that walketh with wise men shall be wise” (Proverbs 13:20). The people we allow closest to us will, in one way or another, influence the direction of our lives.
To all my friends—both online and offline—who have contributed positively to my journey with Christ, thank you. Your encouragement, prayers, insights, teachings, and examples have been a blessing. May the Lord richly reward you and continue to use you to sharpen others for His glory.
