From Jacob to Israel: A Journey of Encounter and Conquest

Image
September 17,2025 Jacob ran away from his brother and his family but returned as Israel. The bridge between his turnaround was a ladder reaching up to heaven where he had an encounter with the God of Abraham and Isaac at Bethel (Genesis 28:10-22). He didn't know then that God's word to him—that He would be with him always—was real, but he made a monument of an altar there. Jacob didn't realize he was a moving altar and that the atmosphere around him was the Bethel he thought he built. Jacob's Journey with God Jacob went to Laban's house, served for several years with God fulfilling the promise of being with him, explaining the prosperity he encountered at Laban's house—all that he was doing prospered (Genesis 30:27-43). Can you imagine the miracle of turning some cattle to what he desired through exposure to sticks (Genesis 30:37-43)? That must have happened because of the promise of the Lord being with him. He returned to Bethel according to the word of the Lor...

The Unseen Heroes: Lessons from Ananias

Image
September 13,2025 Read Acts 9:10-19 As we reflect on the story of Saul's conversion, we often focus on his transformation. However, there's another key figure in this narrative – Ananias, the disciple who played a crucial role in Saul's life. The Bible does not refer to him as an apostle, evangelist, prophet, or pastor, but simply as a disciple. The Greatness of Ananias Apart from his encounter with Saul, there is no further record of Ananias' exploits. Yet, his obedience and faithfulness make him a great man. This reminds me of Pastor Yonggi Cho of South Korea, who was evangelized by a young girl and went on to pastor the largest church in the world. Lessons from Ananias Let's examine the qualities that made Ananias effective: - He was a disciple: Ananias' humility and willingness to serve demonstrate the importance of discipleship. - He was in alignment with the Lord: Ananias maintained a constant fellowship with God, allowing him to hear God's vo...

Purging Sin: A Divine Task

September 8,2025 Purging oneself of sin is a divine task facilitated by the Holy Spirit, who implements God's grace in our lives. However, this process requires our willingness and determination to leave sin behind. Apostle Paul's question in Romans 6:1, "Shall we continue in sin and still expect grace to abound?" emphasizes the importance of abandoning sin to truly experience God's grace. The Challenge of Dealing with Sin Dealing with sin in one's life demands determination and readiness to let go. If we still find pleasure or utility in sin, we're unlikely to abandon it. Whether it's substance abuse, toxic relationships, or other vices, as long as we see them as necessary for survival or enjoyment, we'll struggle to break free. The Mathematics of Sin and Holiness Let's consider a simple equation: Sin + You = Vessel unto Dishonor (Useless before the Lord) Without Sin (Holiness) + You = Vessel unto Honor (Fit for the Lord's Use) Th...
