BE READY, FOR THE LORD WILL COME UNEXPECTEDLY

Image
July 22,2026 Scripture Reading: 2 Peter 3:10 (NKJV) "But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will melt with fervent heat; both the earth and the works that are in it will be burned up." Matthew 24:36-44; Mark 13:32-37; 1 Thessalonians 5:2-6; Matthew 25:1-13. One of the greatest truths every believer must never forget is that the Day of the Lord is certain, but its timing is unknown. The Apostle Peter describes it as coming "like a thief in the night." A thief does not announce his arrival or send a schedule ahead of time. He comes unexpectedly. In the same way, the return of Christ will catch many by surprise. Sadly, throughout history, many individuals have claimed to know the exact date and time of Christ's return. Some have even persuaded people to sell their possessions and abandon their daily responsibilities in anticipation of a predicted day that never came. Such p...

RESTORED TO GOD'S DIVINE ORDER

Image
July 21,2026 We live in a society where God's original order has been turned upside down. Many now worship the very things God created for mankind to rule over. Some bow before carved images made from trees that God intended to serve humanity (Genesis 1:29). Others revere animals that God commanded man to manage and care for. Some even live in fear of birds that fly in the sky. How did this happen? Everything changed because of the fall of man. When Adam sinned, his focus shifted from God to himself. He lost the intimacy he once enjoyed with his Creator. When God called, "Where are you?" (Genesis 3:9), it was not because God did not know Adam's location, but because Adam had changed his spiritual position. His reply, "I was afraid... so I hid myself," revealed the entrance of fear into the human race. From that moment, humanity began to live under fear instead of walking in the authority God had originally given. Believers must understand that every created ...

TRUSTING THE ROCK THAT CANNOT BE SHAKEN

Image
July 17,2026. Psalm 125:1–2; Matthew 7:24–25; Psalm 18:2; Psalm 27:2; Psalm 124:6–8; Proverbs 3:5–6; Jeremiah 17:7–8. Yesterday, we established that building our lives on Jesus Christ—the Chief Cornerstone and the Solid Rock through His Word—is what gives us strength, stability, and an unshakable foundation when the storms of life arise. Today, we will go a step further by looking at what truly keeps a believer steadfast in every season. The hymn writer declared: "On Christ the solid Rock I stand; all other ground is sinking sand." However, there is a difference between standing on the Rock and trusting the Rock. Many profess Christ, but only those who completely trust Him remain unshaken when trials come. The psalmist declared: "Those who trust in the LORD are like Mount Zion, which cannot be moved, but abides forever. As the mountains surround Jerusalem, so the LORD surrounds His people from this time forth and forever." (Psalm 125:1–2) Notice that the p...

Building on the Rock: The Word Before the Gifts

Image
July 16,2026  Matthew 7:24–27; Ephesians 2:20; 1 Corinthians 3:11; John 1:1–4; 2 Timothy 2:15; Colossians 2:6–7 Imagine a man who desperately needs a place to live, yet instead of building a house, he spends all his time installing electricity. He erects electric poles, strings wires, fixes bright bulbs, purchases a television and other appliances, but never lays a foundation or builds a home. What value is electricity without a house? Sadly, this picture describes the condition of many believers today. Many pursue spiritual gifts, positions, and outward manifestations while neglecting the most important work of all—building their lives on Jesus Christ, the Chief Cornerstone. Every building begins with a foundation. Block is laid upon block, but the entire structure depends on the cornerstone and the foundation beneath it. The Scripture declares that Jesus Christ is the Chief Cornerstone (Ephesians 2:20). He is also the Rock upon which every wise man builds (Matthew 7:2...

STANDING FIRM IN THE BATTLE: The Power of Long-Suffering and Endurance

Image
July 15,2026 Every battle demands endurance. Have you ever watched two boxers in the ring and seen one avoid every single punch? Have you ever watched wrestlers and found one who never experiences defeat or resistance? In warfare, have you ever heard of an army that fights without casualties? The answer is no. As long as there is a battle, there will be opposition. Victory is not determined merely by avoiding blows, hiding from the enemy, or running from hardship. While wisdom and strategy are essential, the outcome often belongs to the one who can endure the pressure, rise after every blow, fight skillfully, and wisely use the resources available. Battles are won by those who refuse to give up. The Christian life is no different. One of the fruits of the Spirit listed in Galatians 5:22–23 is long-suffering (patience). Sadly, many believers have adopted the mentality of a fast-food generation. They want immediate answers, instant miracles, and quick breakthroughs. Few are willing to wa...

The Wife of Uriah: A Solemn Reminder That Sin Leaves Lasting Consequences

Image
July 13,2026 Have you ever noticed something remarkable in the genealogy of Jesus? Among the women mentioned—Tamar, Rahab, Ruth, and Mary—one woman is not called by her name. Instead, Matthew refers to her as "the wife of Uriah" (Matthew 1:6). That was not accidental. It reminds every reader of David's greatest moral failure and the lasting consequences that followed. As you read 2 Samuel 11, one thing stands out. The narrative records no words from Bathsheba attempting to restrain David or call him back to his senses. Unlike Joseph, who fled from Potiphar's wife (Genesis 39:7–12), and unlike Tamar, the daughter of David, who resisted, pleaded with Amnon, and warned him not to commit such a disgraceful act (2 Samuel 13:12–13), no such resistance is recorded from Bathsheba in the biblical account. Whether because of fear, the king's authority, or other circumstances, the Scripture simply remains silent. The focus of the passage is David's sin. He ab...

The Word of God: Your Sword of Victory and Rest

Image
July 11,2026 Scripture Focus: Hebrews 4:12; Joshua 1:8; Ephesians 6:17; Revelation 1:16; John 6:63. Are you troubled, confronted, or oppressed by the enemy? Are recurring nightmares leaving you fearful, sorrowful, and discouraged? Do the circumstances surrounding your life seem to point only to failure, delay, and retrogression? If so, the answer is not found in fear or despair but in the living and powerful Word of God. The Word of God is the anchor of the believer's soul and carries the power that brings rest, victory, and divine intervention. Every force of darkness must surrender to the authority of God's Word. "For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword..." (Hebrews 4:12). Nothing is hidden from His sight; therefore, no invisible power can withstand the authority of His Word. God commanded Joshua, "This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night... then you will make your...

The Spirit and Power of Elijah: Understanding John the Baptist's Ident

Image
ity July 7,2026 John 1:21; Malachi 4:5–6; Luke 1:17; Matthew 11:13–14; Matthew 17:10–13; 1 Thessalonians 5:23. One of the questions that often arises when studying the ministry of John the Baptist is this: Why did John deny being Elijah when he was asked in John 1:21? Was he being dishonest, or was he unaware of his prophetic role? The answer is found in the words of the angel Gabriel to Zacharias: "He will also go before Him in the spirit and power of Elijah..." (Luke 1:17). John the Baptist was not Elijah reincarnated, nor was he literally the prophet Elijah returned to earth. Rather, he came in the spirit and power of Elijah. He carried the same prophetic anointing, courage, zeal, and divine assignment that characterized Elijah's ministry, while remaining a distinct individual with his own personality, soul, and body (1 Thessalonians 5:23). This explains why John answered, "No," when asked if he was Elijah (John 1:21). He was not Elijah by identity,...

Understanding the Power of Dreams: Discerning Their Source Through the Holy Spirit

Image
July 6,2026 Dreams have always been a part of the human experience. Throughout Scripture, God has at various times used dreams to reveal His purposes, warn His servants, unveil future events, and communicate divine mysteries. At the same time, the Bible also records dreams that brought fear, confusion, judgment, and destruction. This teaches us that dreams are powerful, but they must never be accepted or interpreted carelessly. Joseph's dreams and his God-given ability to interpret the dreams of others became the pathway to his divine destiny (Genesis 37:5–11; 40:8; 41:15–16). On the other hand, Pharaoh's chief baker received a dream that foretold his execution (Genesis 40:16–22). These contrasting examples remind us that dreams can either reveal God's purpose or announce impending judgment. Therefore, dreams should be approached with spiritual discernment. While God speaks through dreams (Job 33:14–18), the enemy can also seek to produce fear, confusion, deception, and dis...

Filled with the Spirit, Not Controlled by Wine

Image
July 5,2026 The Scriptures speak with remarkable clarity on many issues. Yet, people often reinterpret God's Word to accommodate habits, desires, or addictions they are unwilling to surrender. Such habits are "yet to be conquered" because either the convicting truth of Scripture has not been fully embraced or the grace of God has not yet been yielded to for victory. The Day of Pentecost provides one of the clearest biblical contrasts between the influence of the Holy Spirit and drunkenness. When the disciples were filled with the Holy Spirit, the crowd mocked them, saying, "They are full of new wine" (Acts 2:13). However, the Apostle Peter immediately corrected this misunderstanding: «"These people are not drunk, as you suppose... But this is what was spoken by the prophet Joel..." (Acts 2:15–17).» The boldness, courage, and supernatural utterance displayed by the 120 disciples did not come from alcohol but from the outpouring of the Holy Spirit promis...

The Two Patterns of Divine Enthronement: Lessons from Saul and David

Image
July 4,2026 The Scriptures reveal two distinct patterns of divine enthronement and ordination: start-up enthronement and continuity enthronement. Understanding these patterns helps us appreciate God's sovereign dealings with those He appoints to leadership and reminds us of the importance of obedience, patience, and submission to His timing. The desire for an earthly king did not originate with God but with the impatience of the children of Israel. They demanded a visible king to rule over them like the surrounding nations, even though God Himself was their true King (1 Samuel 8:4–9). Nevertheless, in His mercy and sovereign purpose, God granted their request. Ultimately, His eternal plan was fulfilled through Jesus Christ, the promised Messiah, who came not only to reign as King but also to bring all who believe under the everlasting Kingdom of the Most High God (Isaiah 9:6–7; Luke 1:32–33; Revelation 11:15). 1. Start-up Enthronement: Saul Saul represents what may be called a star...

Number Your Days: Living With Eternity in View

Image
July 3, 2026 "So teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom." — Psalm 90:12 Time is one of God's greatest gifts, and every passing day brings us closer to eternity. That is why Moses prayed, "Teach us to number our days." God desires that we live with an awareness that our time on earth is limited and should be invested in knowing Him and fulfilling His purpose. The knowledge of God is not automatic; it is a personal and intentional pursuit. The Lord invites every individual to seek Him, not to boast in earthly achievements, but to glory in understanding and knowing Him (Jeremiah 9:23–24). Every day presents another opportunity to grow in faith, obedience, and spiritual maturity. God's redemptive plan has been unfolding since before the foundation of the world. Though sin entered creation, the Lord has never abandoned His purpose. Like a wise builder who repairs what has been damaged instead of abandoning the project, God continues His w...

When the Wrong Ship Feels Right

Image
July 2,2026 Key Scriptures: Jonah 1:1–17; Proverbs 3:5–6; Hebrews 12:1–2; Romans 11:29 "But Jonah rose up to flee unto Tarshish from the presence of the Lord..." — Jonah 1:3 The ship to Tarshish appeared comfortable. It offered Jonah rest, anonymity, and the opportunity to avoid the assignment God had given him. Surrounded by other passengers, he could blend into the crowd without attracting attention. There was already a captain to steer the vessel, so Jonah had no responsibility to lead or speak. All he needed to do was sit quietly while the ship carried him farther away from God's purpose. How deceptive comfort can be! What looked like a place of peace was actually a journey of disobedience. Jonah preferred the security of a familiar crowd to the uncertainty of obeying God. He would rather sleep in the wrong ship than proclaim God's message in Nineveh, fearing that God might show mercy to a people he believed deserved judgment. Many believers today are on similar ...

The Transforming Power of Divine Contact Through God's Word

Image
July 1, 2026 Key Scripture: "For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart." — Hebrews 4:12 (NKJV) God is not limited by distance, time, or physical presence. He performs mighty works through divine contact, and one of the greatest forms of that contact is through His living Word. While physical touch has its place, the Word of God carries His presence and power wherever it is received in faith. Throughout Scripture, we see different dimensions of divine contact. The woman with the issue of blood received healing by touching the hem of Jesus' garment (Matthew 9:20–22). A leper was instantly cleansed when Jesus stretched out His hand and touched him (Matthew 8:3). Yet the impotent man at the Pool of Bethesda received his miracle simply by responding to the spoken Word of Christ: "Rise, take up your ...
