When the Fire Grows Dim: A Call to Genuine Revival

For the past two days, we have been considering the subject of revival. Revival is Heaven’s response to spiritual decline. Any individual, church, or nation that sincerely longs for revival often does so because of noticeable spiritual dullness and loss of vitality.

“Wilt thou not revive us again: that thy people may rejoice in thee?”
— Psalm 85:6

Revival is a return to life, strength, passion, and intimacy with God. It is God restoring what has weakened, reigniting what has grown cold, and renewing what has become routine.

“If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray… then will I hear from heaven.”
— 2 Chronicles 7:14

When Revival Is Urgently Needed
When these signs are present, revival must be sought:
a. No more desire to pray — Luke 18:1
b. The Word of God is no longer interesting — Jeremiah 15:16
c. The gathering of brethren becomes avoidable — Hebrews 10:25
d. The words of the preacher feel like an attack — 2 Timothy 4:3–4
e. The Body of Christ becomes rumour-sensitive — Ephesians 4:14–15
f. The Church is no longer Spirit-led — Romans 8:14
g. There is no more fellowship with the Holy Spirit — 2 Corinthians 13:14
h. Loss of first love — Revelation 2:4–5

True revival is not mere emotion or temporary excitement. It is a restoration of holiness, obedience, intimacy, and spiritual sensitivity.

“O Lord, revive thy work in the midst of the years.”
— Habakkuk 3:2

Revival must not only come; it must be sustained through sound teaching, prayer, and continuous dependence on the Holy Spirit.

I decree by the authority in the name of Jesus Christ, may the Lord revive every weary heart and rekindle every dying altar in Jesus’ name. Amen.
