It is a wonderful privilege for believers to fellowship together, especially in the Word of God. Today, let us carefully consider 1 Corinthians 12:1–11, paying close attention to the words the Holy Spirit inspired Apostle Paul to use in explaining His operations among believers.

The Scripture declares: “Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit” (1 Corinthians 12:4). Then in verse 7, Paul makes a striking statement: “But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal.”

Notice that the Scripture does not say “the gifts of the Spirit are given to every man,” but rather “the manifestation of the Spirit.”

This teaches us an important truth: the Holy Spirit Himself carries the full package of divine ability. When He comes to dwell in a believer, He does not distribute pieces of Himself. Rather, He dwells in fullness, and He alone decides how and when to make Himself visible through each believer for the benefit of others.

Therefore, through one believer He may manifest the word of wisdom; through another, the word of knowledge; and through another, gifts of healings, the working of miracles, prophecy, or discernment of spirits (1 Corinthians 12:8–10). These are not personal possessions owned by believers, but divine manifestations released by the Holy Spirit according to His will.

Manifestation simply means to make visible, to bring into light what was hidden, to make evident to the senses. Thus, the manifestation of the Spirit is the Holy Spirit making Himself known through human vessels, so that it is clearly seen that the works done are by the Spirit of Christ and not by human ability.

In this way, the revelation of the Holy Spirit is given to believers, not for personal glory, but “to profit withal”—that is, for the edification, blessing, and building up of the body of Christ (1 Corinthians 12:7; 1 Corinthians 14:12).

May the Lord open our eyes of understanding, that we may walk in humility and yield ourselves to the Spirit’s operation, allowing Him to manifest Christ through us for the good of all, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
