Justified by Faith: God's Righteousness Revealed in the Era of Grace

Psalm 32:1–2; Romans 4:5; Romans 5:8; Romans 1:16; Colossians 2:14–15; 2 Corinthians 5:19; John 3:16–18
The way humanity—and even religious institutions—often perceives God’s judgment and righteousness in this present age of grace calls for sober reflection. Many interpretations of God’s Word still lean heavily on condemnation, whereas Scripture clearly reveals God’s heart of mercy and justification through faith.
David declared, “Blessed is the man to whom the Lord does not impute iniquity” (Psalm 32:2). This reveals a profound truth: in God’s reckoning, such a person is seen as having no sin at all—not because they never sinned, but because their sin is no longer counted against them.
The Apostle Paul reinforces this truth when he writes:
“But to him who does not work but believes on Him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is accounted for righteousness” (Romans 4:5).
This aligns perfectly with the testimony of Scripture that “while we were still sinners, Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8).
What does this mean? The sin barrier that once caused enmity between God and humanity has been decisively dealt with through Christ. God was in Christ “reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing their trespasses to them” (2 Corinthians 5:19). Many who remain outside the faith—whether Muslims, Buddhists, traditionalists, or others—are not aware of this finished work. This lack of awareness keeps them bound, not because salvation is unavailable, but because it is not yet believed.
Therefore, the gospel comes as good news—to announce what God has already accomplished on humanity’s behalf. Our justification requires no additional works; faith in Christ Jesus settles everything. Christ has done what humanity could never do for itself, and nothing can be added to the completeness of His salvation (John 19:30).
The central challenge, then, is alignment with and belief in this gospel truth. When preached, it is “the power of God unto salvation” (Romans 1:16). It is feared by the devil because Christ has already disarmed principalities and powers, making a public spectacle of them through the cross (Colossians 2:14–15). This is why the gospel is resisted and opposed in many places.
May we stand firm in the truth of Christ and boldly proclaim this grace-filled message to others. In doing so, we participate in God’s redemptive purpose for the world.
