Who Are You to Be Afraid? Rediscovering Your Identity as a Son of God

December 12,2025

“I, even I, am He who comforts you. Who are you that you should be afraid of a man who will die…?” — Isaiah 51:12 (NKJV)

Fear has become a daily battle for many, a silent disaster that seeks to weaken faith. It is one of the enemy’s most subtle weapons—designed to distract the believer from the presence, power, and promises of God. Yet the Lord asks us a piercing question: “Who are you to be afraid?”

Imagine truly understanding that God Almighty is your Father. Not merely your Creator—your Father. Scripture reminds us of this identity:

“The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God.” — Romans 8:16

When you know you are a son or daughter of the Most High, fear loses its grip. The prodigal son realized this when he said, “How many of my father’s hired servants have food to spare…” (Luke 15:17). Even the servants in the Father’s house have provision—how much more the sons!

As a child of God:

You lack no good thing (Psalm 34:10).

Your life is hidden with Christ in God (Colossians 3:3).

No weapon formed against you can prosper (Isaiah 54:17).

Witches, wizards, and the forces of darkness cannot determine your destiny (Luke 10:19).

So again the Lord asks, “Who are you to be afraid?”
Fear often reveals a misplaced identity—forgetting who you truly are in Christ. The Lord reminds you:

“I am the One who comforts you.” — Isaiah 51:12

The greatest powers of darkness, with all their schemes and personalities, were created by God before they rebelled. Their abilities are limited; their authority collapses when God gives a command. Why then should the child of the Creator fear created things?

Prayer Declaration

I decree that from today, you will behold God more clearly than your fears. May your identity as a child of God swallow every anxiety, intimidation, and oppression, in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen.
