Love in Action — Seeing Every Person as Your Neighbor
December 30,2025
Love is continually made visible through sharing. We often hear about self-love, and indeed, the very fact that you are alive today is evidence that life itself is precious and worth valuing. Yet love reaches its fullness when it is shared. Love that is not shared is incomplete; love expressed becomes a living testimony.
Scripture teaches us that love is not limited by distance, culture, or familiarity. Jesus illustrated this truth in the parable of the Good Samaritan (Luke 10:30–37). A man was robbed, wounded, and left helpless on the road. Those whom society expected to help passed by, but a Samaritan—considered a stranger and outsider—stopped, showed compassion, and cared for him. Jesus concluded by saying that this Samaritan proved himself to be the true neighbor.
This teaches us that neighborliness is not confined to those who live close to us or belong to our circle. The person you sit beside on a bus, the colleague at your workplace, and even the stranger you meet briefly along life’s journey are all your neighbors. It is a grave error to respond to unfamiliar people with hatred, hostility, or indifference. Some act harshly simply because they believe they may never meet again—but love does not reason that way.
Even within the assembly of believers, we must remember that we are neighbors to one another. This is a season to do something for someone who cannot repay you. Put a smile on the face of someone who lacks the strength or resources to help themselves. Share the love of Christ with the downtrodden, the rejected, and even those bound by destructive habits. This is the very heart of Christ.
Jesus said, “I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance” (Luke 5:32). He also declared, “Inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me” (Matthew 25:40). When we show love to others, we are ministering directly to Christ Himself.
As we celebrate this festive season, may love find expression through our actions. May your steps be guided by compassion, and may your life reflect the selfless love of Christ.
Have a wonderful festive season, and may you cross over into 2026 in grand style, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
