"What Did You See?”

Scripture References:
📖 John 1:35–39, Matthew 13:16, 2 Corinthians 4:6
When John the Baptist saw Jesus walking by, he declared to his disciples, “Behold the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!” (John 1:29). Among those who heard this proclamation were two of John’s disciples. The impact of that revelation was so strong that they immediately followed Jesus.
Pause for a moment and imagine how powerful John’s teaching ministry must have been—he consistently pointed men away from himself and toward Christ. His message prepared hearts to recognize the Messiah when He appeared. Yet, even among his close followers, only a few responded to that call.
As the two disciples followed Jesus, He turned and asked them, “What do you seek?” (John 1:38). Their reply was simple yet profound: “Rabbi, where do You stay?” Jesus invited them to come and see. They went with Him and stayed that night. But notice something remarkable—only one name was recorded to have continued with Jesus: Philip. The other disciple’s name was never mentioned again.
This raises a crucial question—what did Philip see that made him stay?
He had every reason to return to John the Baptist, just as the other disciple likely did. John was still ministering until Herod’s arrest. Yet Philip stayed with Jesus, undeterred by what others might say:
“Philip, you just changed your master like that?”
Philip saw something! He encountered a light that no human teaching could replicate. He found the One whom John had been pointing to all along—the Christ, the Son of the Living God.
Now the same question comes to you:
👉 When you turned from religion to Christ, what did you see?
👉 When you left old habits, traditions, and forms to embrace the Way, what revelation captured your heart?
If what you saw was truly Christ, it will keep you. For as Jesus said in John 6:40:
“This is the will of Him who sent Me, that everyone who sees the Son and believes in Him may have everlasting life.”
May our eyes continually behold the Lamb, and may what we have seen in Him cause us to stay and follow faithfully till the end.
We’d love to hear from you!
