The Revelation of Christ Beyond Seeing
November 19,2025
(John 20:24–29; 1 Peter 1:8–9; Romans 10:17)
Thomas, one of the twelve, was absent when Jesus first appeared to the disciples after His resurrection. The other disciples joyfully testified, “We have seen the Lord!” (John 20:25). But Thomas refused their witness. He insisted, “Unless I see in His hands the print of the nails, and put my finger into the hole… I will not believe.” His heart leaned toward proof rather than trust; he continued in doubt for eight days.
Yet Jesus, full of mercy, appeared again. He stood among them with His resurrected, glorified body—a body Paul describes as “spiritual” and “heavenly” (1 Corinthians 15:42–44). Turning directly to Thomas, Jesus invited him, “Reach your finger here… do not be unbelieving, but believing.”
Thomas was overwhelmed and confessed, “My Lord and my God!” (John 20:27–28).
Then Jesus declared a timeless truth:
“Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.” (John 20:29)
In this, Jesus teaches us that true faith is not founded on visions, physical sensations, dreams, or supernatural encounters. Faith rests on the testimony of His Word, carried by the witnesses whom He appointed (Acts 1:8). The blessing is upon those who embrace Christ through the illumination of the Scriptures, not through the demand for physical proof.
Seeing Christ is not limited to physical or spiritual sight—it is the inward revelation of Christ produced by the Holy Spirit through the Word. It is a knowing that is deeper than emotion, stronger than intellect, and more certain than physical sight (Ephesians 1:17–18). This revelation enthrones Christ in the heart and removes all doubts.
As Peter writes,
“Though you have not seen Him, you love Him… believing, you rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory.” (1 Peter 1:8)
Are you waiting for a form, a vision, or an appearance before you believe? Jesus is revealed most fully and most tangibly through the Scriptures. When you read, study, meditate, and obey, His sweetness becomes real, and His Word becomes the “joy and rejoicing of your heart” (Jeremiah 15:16).
