The Children’s Bread: Walking in Authority Over Demons

November 16,2025

Key Scriptures: Luke 11:20; Matthew 15:26–28; Mark 16:17

Jesus declared, “If I cast out devils by the finger of God, then the Kingdom of God has come upon you” (Luke 11:20). In the same breath He asked, “By whom do your children cast them out?”—revealing a profound truth: casting out demons is not reserved for spiritual elites; it is the inheritance of God’s children.

In Matthew 15:26, Jesus referred to deliverance as “the children’s bread.” Although He initially told the Syrophoenician woman that this bread was not for dogs, her humility and faith positioned her to receive what belonged to the household of God. Her sole desire was simple—that the demon tormenting her daughter be cast out. And Jesus granted it.

This raises a vital question for the church today:
Why are many believers afraid of demons and witchcraft?
Why have our prayers focused more on “killing demons” rather than exercising the authority Christ already gave us to cast them out (Mark 16:17)?

It seems many spend more time calling down fire in fear than commanding demons to leave in faith. Yet Jesus made deliverance as simple and natural for a believer as eating bread. It is our right. It is our inheritance. It is our responsibility.

The truth remains:

We are empowered by Christ (Luke 10:19).

We are seated with Him in authority (Ephesians 2:6).

We are not victims of darkness but victors over it (Colossians 1:13).

Therefore, the church must pray—not for more fear-driven warfare—but for a fresh revelation of the power already available in Christ. We must arise with understanding, confidence, and authority, fully convinced that greater is He that is in us than he that is in the world (1 John 4:4).
