Living by the Spirit: The Complete Life in Christ
November 10,2025
Scripture Focus:
“And you are complete in Him, who is the head of all principality and power.” — Colossians 2:10
“For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.” — Romans 8:14
The most enriching and fulfilling life is the one that navigates the world using all the spiritual provisions that are found in Christ. In Him, we have access to wisdom, strength, guidance, and divine resources, for we are complete in Him, the Head of all principalities and powers.
In recent times, we have seen many believers emphasize different aspects of Christian devotion — some are more prayer-focused, others give great attention to singing spiritual songs, some to psalms and the Word, and others to the pursuit of prosperity. All these are wonderful expressions of faith, yet imbalance arises when any of these become substitutes for other necessary graces or are used merely as escapes from certain spiritual responsibilities.
The truth is that in Christ, we are no longer bound by the rigid routines of “do not touch, do not taste, do not handle” (Colossians 2:21). Rather, we have come under the leadership of the Holy Spirit. As Scripture declares, “those who are led by the Spirit of God are the sons of God” (Romans 8:14), and “the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made us free from the law of sin and death” (Romans 8:2).
Therefore, all that we do — whether in prayer, worship, study, or giving — must flow from the leading of the Spirit, not from human effort or religious duty. The Spirit gives life and balance to every practice of faith.
The Apostle Paul further reminds us:
“But above all these things put on love, which is the bond of perfection. And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. Continue earnestly in prayer, being vigilant in it with thanksgiving.” — Colossians 3:14–16; 4:2
Everything we do should be done with grace, not with rigor — by the Spirit, not by the letter — for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life (2 Corinthians 3:6).
May the Lord grant you understanding and balance in your walk with Him, in Jesus’ name.
We’d love to hear from you!
