Tears of Visitation
October 25,2025
Scripture Texts: Luke 19:41–44; John 11:33–35; Revelation 3:20
Message:
There are two moments recorded in Scripture where our Lord Jesus Christ wept deeply — at the tomb of Lazarus (John 11:35) and when He approached Jerusalem (Luke 19:41–44). These two instances reveal a profound truth about the heart of God: both tears were connected to spiritual blindness and missed opportunities for life.
At Lazarus’ tomb, Jesus wept because of death — not only the physical death of His friend, but the spiritual death that had gripped humanity. Death was never His Father’s original intention for man. His tears carried compassion, yet they also reflected the pain of man’s separation from divine life.
Likewise, as He entered Jerusalem, Jesus beheld the city and wept over it, saying:
“If you had known, even you, at least in this your day, the things which belong unto your peace! But now they are hidden from your eyes.”
— Luke 19:42 (KJV)
Jerusalem did not recognize the time of her visitation. The very One they had long prayed for stood in their midst, but they were blinded in heart and mind. The King of Glory came, yet they could not discern Him. Their unbelief and hardened hearts caused them to miss the divine moment of mercy, and the Savior wept.
Friend, one of the greatest tragedies in life is to have your Savior visit you — through His Word, His Spirit, or through divine encounters — and yet fail to recognize Him. The Lord visits men in various seasons: in conviction, in revelation, in divine opportunities. When these moments are ignored, destinies may remain buried like Lazarus in the tomb.
But today, the Lord is visiting you again. This is your moment of grace — your day of visitation. Do not harden your heart. Open the door of your soul and let Him in.
“Behold, I stand at the door and knock: if any man hear My voice and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with Me.”
— Revelation 3:20 (KJV)
Say this prayer sincerely:
“Lord Jesus, I recognize that today is my day of visitation. Come into my heart, be my Lord and my Savior. I surrender my life to You. Amen.”
We’d love to hear from you.
