Graduations of Intimacy: From Believing to Knowing to Reckoning
October 27,2025
Scripture Focus: John 8:32; Romans 6:6,11; Philippians 3:10; Ephesians 1:17–18
There are graduations of intimacy the Lord desires from all who follow Him — believing, knowing, and reckoning. These are not mere stages of faith, but deeper dimensions of relationship with God.
1. Believing — The Entry Point of Faith
Every believer begins with believing. Jesus said, “This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He has sent” (John 6:29). Believing introduces you into the life of Christ. It is the first step, but not the destination. Many stop at believing, yet God desires that we press beyond it into the knowledge of truth.
2. Knowing — The Reality of Truth
Jesus declared, “You shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free” (John 8:32).
Knowing is deeper than believing. At this level, truth becomes personal revelation — it shapes your reality. Paul wrote, “Knowing this, that our old man was crucified with Him, that the body of sin might be destroyed…” (Romans 6:6).
You no longer merely believe that you are crucified with Christ; you know it because you have allowed that truth to transform your daily life. What you know determines how you live. Ignorance of the accomplished works of Christ gives the enemy a foothold in your life. But knowledge of the truth disarms him completely.
3. Reckoning — The Application of Knowledge
Reckoning is the practical expression of what you know. Scripture says, “Reckon yourselves to be dead indeed to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 6:11).
To reckon means to take into account, to align your thoughts and actions with divine truth. It is not wishful thinking but a conscious agreement with what God has already accomplished in Christ.
When you begin to reckon yourself dead to sin and alive unto God, your prayer life changes, your confidence increases, and your dominion over the enemy becomes evident. You start living from victory, not for victory.
Beloved, make it your daily pursuit to search the Scriptures and know what the Lord has accomplished for you. Stay in that truth and confess it continually. As you do, grace will abound to you, and revelation will deepen your walk with God.
I decree that the eyes of your understanding be enlightened, and that you may know the hope of His calling and the riches of His glory in Christ Jesus (Ephesians 1:17–18).
May your heart ascend from believing to knowing, and from knowing to reckoning — until Christ is fully formed in you.
