From Captivity to Gift
October 21,2025
“When He ascended on high, He led captivity captive and gave gifts to men.” — Ephesians 4:8 (KJV)
When Jesus Christ steps into your life — even in a place of imprisonment, bondage, or captivity — everything changes. What once held you bound becomes bound itself. Your captors become captives, and in their place, Christ releases gifts into your life.
The resurrection of Jesus Christ is not just a proof of His victory over sin and death; it is also the platform through which you receive divine empowerment. When you believe in Him, He replaces your bondage with gifts — gifts that come through the men and women He sends into your life.
“And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints, for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ.” — Ephesians 4:11–12 (NKJV)
1. Apostles — The Sent Ones
Apostles are those sent by Christ to reveal His nature and person. They stand in the place of Christ on earth to make Him visible to men. When you encounter a true apostle, you encounter a dimension of Christ that breaks sickness, bondage, lack, and suffering. Through their ministry, Christ becomes real and active in your life.
2. Prophets — The Voice of His Mind
Prophets are divine interpreters of the heart of God. They speak not to control, but to align you with the will of the Lord. Through them, the Holy Spirit brings understanding, correction, and direction. A true prophet helps you discern what God is saying in your season, so you can walk in His purpose.
“Surely the Lord God does nothing, unless He reveals His secret to His servants the prophets.” — Amos 3:7 (NKJV)
3. Pastors and Teachers — The Shepherds of Understanding
Pastors and teachers are gifts of love to the Church. They patiently feed you with knowledge and understanding through the Word, leading you in the path of truth and spiritual maturity. They carry a shepherd’s heart — to guide, protect, and nurture the flock of Christ.
“And I will give you shepherds according to My heart, who will feed you with knowledge and understanding.” — Jeremiah 3:15 (NKJV)
4. Evangelists — The Bearers of the Good News
Evangelists are mobile flames of the Gospel. They move from place to place declaring what Christ has done and demonstrating His power. Through them, the lost are found, and many come to the knowledge of salvation.
These gifts are interconnected. One servant may carry multiple dimensions of these graces, while another may function strongly in one or two. What matters most is your recognition and reception of these divine gifts.
“He who receives a prophet in the name of a prophet shall receive a prophet’s reward.” — Matthew 10:41 (NKJV)
When you receive these gifts with faith and humility, you partake of their rewards — healing, deliverance, understanding, and divine transformation.
Has your the gifts sent to you become your captors, projecting themselves and not Christ, then run because real gifts from Christ will do nothing but what's Christ's
Christ has already conquered captivity. The question is — will you embrace the gifts He has sent your way?
