Beware of False Light
October 13,2025
Text: “Take heed therefore that the light which is in thee be not darkness.” — Luke 11:35 (KJV)
There is a striking warning from the Lord Jesus: “Take heed that the light which is in you be not darkness.” (Luke 11:34–35).
What a profound statement! Can a person truly have darkness within and still believe he possesses light? The Lord’s words suggest yes — it is possible. Why? Because the devil himself “transforms into an angel of light” (2 Corinthians 11:14), deceiving many into believing that they walk in truth while actually dwelling in falsehood. Through this deception, he recruits false teachers, false prophets, and even false Christs to mislead the unsuspecting.
We live in an end-time season filled with spiritual confusion and imitation lights. Many voices claim to speak for God, yet not all light is True Light. That’s why John 1:9 makes this powerful distinction: “That was the True Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.”
Jesus is not just any light — He is the True Light. His illumination brings life, peace, and truth, never darkness or confusion. Every other source of “light” outside of Him eventually leads to deception and destruction.
The Lord further declares: “He that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.” (John 8:12).
This means that to walk in Christ is to walk in clarity. To walk outside Him, no matter how bright it appears, is to stumble in the darkness of error.
Hence, the Lord says “Take heed.” Be vigilant, discerning, and humble enough to test what you believe. Don’t assume you have the Light — confirm that the Light in you is truly Christ Jesus. Examine your fruits, your daily walk, your love, and your obedience. These reveal whether your light is True or false.
Prayer:
O Lord Jesus, reveal Yourself to me as the True Light. Expose every false light and deception around my life. Let me never be misled by a false Christ or false gospel. Fill me with Your Light that shines forever. Amen.
