Understanding Our Identity in Christ: From Levitical to Melchizedekian

The Difference Between Levitical and Melchizedekian
As believers, we must understand that our identity in Christ is not rooted in the Levitical priesthood, but rather in the Melchizedekian order. The Levitical priesthood was based on law and ritual, whereas the Melchizedekian order is based on grace and faith.
Grace Empowers, Not Excuses
Grace does not give us license to be lazy or neglect our responsibilities. Instead, it empowers us to perform and live according to God's will. As the Bible says, "For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ" (John 1:17).
Our Source and Identity
We are not Levites, but rather sons of God, having the Son in us. The Scriptures call us "sons of God" because we have the Son in us, and "he that has the Son has life" (1 John 5:12). Our identity is rooted in Christ, and we are called to represent Him on earth.
The Ministry Gifts
The ministry gifts of apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, and teachers were not part of the Levitical order, but rather were given to us through Christ's Melchizedekian office. When He ascended, He led captivity captive and gave gifts to men who are His representatives on earth (Ephesians 4:8-11).
Conclusion
Let us understand our identity in Christ and live according to our Melchizedekian calling. We are not bound by the law and rituals of the Levitical priesthood, but rather empowered by grace to live and minister in the power of the Holy Spirit.
Prayer
May the Lord open our eyes to understand our identity in Christ and live according to our Melchizedekian calling.
