The Authority of Scripture
May 30,2025
2 Timothy 3:16-17, Hebrews 4:12
Rooted in Scripture
No preacher's accuracy surpasses the Scriptures. A preacher's effectiveness is powered by their accumulation of the Lord's teachings through the Scriptures and the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. Without a foundation in Scripture and the Holy Spirit's guidance, our words are mere noise, like "a sounding brass and a clanging cymbal" (1 Corinthians 13:1).
The Power of God's Word
The Scriptures, God's Word, are living and powerful, piercing to the division of soul and spirit, joints and marrow, discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart (Hebrews 4:12). The Holy Spirit is the conveyor of God's Word, knowing exactly what to convey to turn hearts around.
Faithfulness to Scripture
A preacher who faults the Scriptures and the Holy Spirit has no part in the Kingdom. We must stand strong, holding dear the authentic Word of God, and not chasing after extraneous teachings. Our focus should be on Christ Jesus, the express image of the invisible God (Hebrews 1:3), the Beloved Son.
