God's Impartiality: Lessons from the Book of Job
May 26,2025
Gentile Wisdom in the Bible
The book of Job stands out as a unique example of a biblical book focused on Gentile characters, without direct involvement of Hebrews. Job and his friends, Eliphaz, Zophar, and Bildad, were Gentiles whose quotes and actions are recorded in the Bible. Remember these quotes from Elihu, who said, "But there is a spirit in man: and the inspiration of the Almighty giveth them understanding" (Job 32:8). Eliphaz also said "I will declare a thing, and it shall be established unto thee" (Job 22:28). Many of us have used that during prayers. They were scriptures from the mouths of the Gentiles through the Holy Spirit.
God's Impartiality
The book of Job demonstrates God's impartiality, showing that He values righteousness and wisdom from people of all backgrounds. Other Gentile-related scriptures, like Jonah and Esther, also highlight God's interaction with non-Hebrews. As the Bible says, "God shows no partiality" (Acts 10:34), and in every nation, "whoever fears Him and works righteousness is accepted by Him" (Acts 10:35).
Lessons and Reflections
The book of Job teaches us that God's desire is for a holy people, regardless of their background. Job, a righteous Gentile, is a testament to God's impartiality.
