Following the Pattern of Christ: A Call to Missions

May 1,2025

Matthew 15:24: "I was sent only to the lost sheep of the house of Israel"
- Acts 1:8: "But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth"
- John 12:32: "And I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all people to myself

Matthew 15:24, Acts 1:8, John 12:32
Jesus was sent to a tribe and nation of Israel, working among them from the beginning to the end of His earthly life. As a missionary to a tribe, He demonstrated the love of God to His people. When the Greeks came, He said, "A corn of wheat must fall to the ground, and if it dies, it produces much fruit" (John 12:24). This pattern of ministry is evident in His life and teachings.

The Pattern of Christ
The pattern of Christ is clear: from one tribe to similar nearby tribes, to different tribes, and ultimately to unknown tribes at the end of the world (Acts 1:8). This is the missionary mandate that we are called to obey. Jesus' ministry started with the lost sheep of Israel, but His vision expanded to include all people, demonstrating the inclusive nature of the gospel.

A Call to Obedience
As followers of Christ, we are called to follow this pattern and take the gospel to the tribes. Jesus is looking for men and women to obey the Great Commission and spread the message of salvation to all nations. Are you ready to obey?
