The Danger of Misplaced Worship

The Danger of Misplaced Worship

April 16,2025

Matthew 7:21
Revelation 13:1-18

In the early days of the church, apostles like Peter and Paul were quick to deflect attention from themselves, even after performing miracles. Instead, they pointed people to Jesus Christ, the true source of power and wonder. Today, however, many claim credit for God's miracles and signs.

A Pattern of Humility
Peter and Paul's actions serve as a model for humility and recognition of God's sovereignty. When confronted with potential worship, they redirected attention to Jesus, emphasizing their humanity and God's divine power.

Warning Signs of Deception
The Bible warns that not everyone who claims to represent Christ or performs miracles in His name truly belongs to Him. Jesus said, "Not everyone who says to Me, 'Lord, Lord,' shall enter the kingdom of heaven" (Matthew 7:21). We must be cautious of those who prioritize signs and wonders over the genuine fruits of faith.

The End-Time Recruitment
In these last days, a great recruitment is underway. Both the Kingdom of God and the kingdom of darkness are vying for souls. The devil, seeking to mimic God's work, will use deception and counterfeit miracles to lead people astray. The book of Revelation speaks of a false prophet and an antichrist who will masquerade as Christ, described as a lamb-like figure with a dragon-like spirit, in stark contrast to our true Jesus, who is the Lion and the Lamb.

Conclusion
Let us remain vigilant and discerning, recognizing the true source of power and worship. We must distinguish between the genuine and the counterfeit, between Jesus Christ, the Lion and the Lamb, and the antichrist, who appears as a lamb but speaks like a dragon. May we focus on Jesus and not be deceived by impostors.
