The Consequences of Idolatry and Ungodliness

*"For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness..."* (Romans 1:18)

The book of Romans, chapter one, provides a detailed account of the idolatrous worship practices of the Roman people. Apostle Paul, in his letter to the Roman Church, explains that the wrath of God will come upon the ungodly because they refuse to acknowledge God as God, despite the clear evidence of His existence in nature.

As a result, their thinking became futile, and their hearts were darkened. The evidence of this darkening includes:

1. *Idolatry*: creating images of animals and creeping things to represent God (Romans 1:23)
2. *Dishonoring their bodies*: engaging in vile passions, exchanging natural relationships for unnatural ones, including homosexuality and lesbianism (Romans 1:24-27)
3. *Exchanging the truth for a lie*: worshiping created things rather than the Creator (Romans 1:25)
4. *Engaging in unseemly behavior*: doing things that are not fitting or proper (Romans 1:28)

These practices are rooted in idolatry and are a form of spiritual rebellion against God.

In recent times, we have seen a resurgence of these practices, which is a clear indication of the idolatrous spirit at work.

A disturbing example of this is the story of a Campus Fellowship leader in Nigeria who left to oversee a church in another country, only to return and marry a gay partner. This is a tragic example of how even leaders can fall prey to these ungodly practices.

Let us pray that our young people will not be lost to these debased minds and that they will remain faithful to God's truth.

*"Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up."* (Galatians 6:9)

Pray with us that we shall not lose our young ones to debased minds, in Jesus' name.
